Watching the SCOTUS Hearings? Support a Different Cavanagh
Three Democrats running for key State Supreme Court seats in Ohio and North Carolina
The Senate Judiciary Committee is hearing remarks today from President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh, as well as testimony from a California woman who has accused Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct. As of this morning, three other women have come forward with accusations.
Watching the Kavanaugh confirmation process has been incredibly frustrating, but it is a reminder that there are actions you can take to impact important State Supreme Court contests around the country.
Michigan and North Carolina are two states in which voters decide who gets to sit on the State Supreme Court, and there are great Democratic candidates who need your support TODAY. You can even help a different Cavanagh: Michigan Supreme Court candidate Megan Cavanagh.
Megan Cavanagh and Sam Bagenstos can break a Republican majority on Michigan’s State Supreme Court – just in time for the next round of redistricting in 2021. In North Carolina, Democrats need to elect Anita Earls to the North Carolina Supreme Court. North Carolina stands to add at least one new Congressional seat in 2022; redistricting here could decide whether Democrats can keep a potential House Majority intact for the next decade. It so happens that Earls is a redistricting expert.
These are all low dollar under-the-radar races that could have a massive impact through 2030. Take out your frustration on the SCOTUS process by donating to Megan Cavanagh, Sam Bagenstos, and Anita Earls.
